We discovered that thematic analysis of blogs about mind control delusions was more suited to answering our research question than other possible choices such as interpretative phenomenological analysis or grounded theory. We assume that human behaviour is dependent on the meanings that individuals make of situations: for instance if one suggests to a person suffering from auditory hallucinations that their voices are demons, the voice hearers would have to know what a demon was to believe that such an entity was responsible.
