In considering the socio-ethico-political function of the image , it is easy to lose sight of the image itself. We become so enraptured by classification, hierarchies, theory, and the hermeneutical act itself, that hermeneutics ceases to take place at times. The systematization of art, or the experience of imagery is beneficial for scholarly purposes, but when one speaks of relating image to society, dialectic must not only transcend its origins and facticity, but also the ideas and presuppositions of the semiotic itself.

HILTSMARCH 25, 1999 After six years of investigations and temporary suspensions, hospitals and clinics in the Greater Los Angeles Health Care System were ordered on Monday to halt all of their animal and human experiments. The order will go into effect on Friday. About 100 researchers are conducting 500 experiments there, officials said.
