The concept of neuroweapons is deceptive as it suggests that these weapons may be employed against a foreign adversary, rather than the 'enemy within', which is also misleading as it implies that the target of such a weapon is a significant individual, a genuine threat to the nation, rather than individuals who are considered undesirable by the state, such as drug addicts, the homeless, the impoverished, and the mentally ill, whom the state wishes to eliminate discreetly. As laws pertaining to assisted suicide evolve and the act of ending one's own life becomes more socially accepted, while the distinction between what is popular and what is not, what is trendy and what is not, dominates one's daily online experiences, the sense of emptiness and lack of purpose in this attention-driven economy becomes internalized. Consequently, the utilization of these weapons to exploit the marginalized becomes more prominent.
