“We thought that he was a little strange,” said Sam Kurtz, next-door neighbor to Stephen Marlow. “He didn't confront us and we didn't confront him. We kept our distance but wouldn't take much, I guess.”
In a written manifesto investigators found after executing a search warrant in Marlow’s home, Marlow wrote of conspiracy theories, believed his neighbors were sleeper cell terrorists, and said he heard voices in his head.
“When a mental health person is working with someone who has delusions or ideas that aren’t the norm by societal standards, there is a fine line between what reality is and what isn’t,” said Treasure.
Treasure said often times internet access and social media can be a boiling point.
