Deep Brain Neuromodulation—A Paradigm Shift in Psychiatric Research
Few studies have been published that repurpose brain stimulation for military applications. Continuous wave/long duty cycle sonications have been shown to cause near-field heating/tissue damage (McDannold et al. 2006, Tung et al. 2006). Higher acoustic power and/or a longer sonication time causes disturbance of the blood supply to the brain, this could be used to force the enemy to retreat.
