You Don't Have to Be a Star (To Be In My Show)

The long-term remote monitoring of individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) through digital technology presents a novel opportunity to revolutionize the lives of this population. By tracking their daily activities, practitioners and therapists can gain valuable insights into the experiences of those with SMI through their first-person accounts, including blogs and microblogs. The potential benefits of technology in enhancing mental health care have been acknowledged in recent reviews. Digital mental health records offer researchers access to pertinent information that patients may withhold during sharing. The combination of these records with remote monitoring technology has the potential to improve outcomes for patients with chronic mental health conditions in various ways. With strict privacy measures in place and the ability to anonymize real-time longitudinal patient data, we are well on our way to utilizing patient involvement to guide researchers in creating and facilitating timely interventions before a crisis develops. This approach takes into account a broad range of everyday situational stressors and issues unique to subgroups with similar concerns.
