Save It for Me (2006 Remaster)

Children often draw violent images without being prompted, which leads to intense debates. Some people believe that these drawings are harmful to children's well-being, while others argue that they serve an important role in their development. This paper suggests that we should address this issue not only from a psychological perspective, but also from a broader social standpoint. Children's drawings of violence and society's attitudes towards them reflect a fundamental contradiction in a society that promotes peace but is also violent. This contradiction is often overlooked in various forms of cultural expression. Since children learn about the world by reinterpreting dominant cultural symbols, it is not surprising that their own artwork reflects these contradictions. While there are no easy solutions to educating children in a contradictory society, this paper explores possible actions that art educators can take to promote children's development and foster a non-violent society.
