"Story" refers to the actual chronology of events in a narrative; discourse refers to the manipulation of that story in the presentation of the narrative.
LOGS, JOURNALS and DIARIES contained the chronological sequence of the writer's THOUGHTS as they actually occurred in "real time."
It could be contended that a blog solely prompted by and intended for
researchers
who had the technology to format one's post in the actual order they were written at the end of each day
were reading something quite different than the casual reader who might stumble upon one's life log
